Transaction ref for direct debits calculation

Learn how your transaction reference number for direct debit instructions is created and why it’s important not to change it.

The transaction reference brings together three key values:

  • The DDI number assigned to the pledge.

  • The ID of the pledge.

  • The instalment number for the pledge.

These combined produce a unique reference number for the specific pledge and its instalment. This reference number is also used to process any cancellation requests sent from the bank, so should not be modified prior to being setup.
