Membership instalments are generated through an automatic calculation. This calculation includes the total costs of the membership, the payment frequency, and the total duration of the membership.
For example, a monthly membership that spans from April1st to March 31st for a total cost of £60 would generate 12 instalments for £5, at the start of each month.
Issues can occur if the membership duration is set to slightly longer than expected.
Using our previous example, creating a membership from April 1st until April 1st the next year will result in 13 instalments being generated, as the very start of the 13th month is included in the range of the membership. This can also happen with annual memberships, resulting in a single payment being split into two.
In order to fix this:
Click Membership, then click Members.
Search for the membership.
Click Manage, then click Change expiry date.
Set the expiry date so that the membership only lasts as long as intended.
Click OK.
Click Manage, then click Reapply Discounts.
Click Yes.
Even if the membership had no discounts applied previously, this will cause the system to recalculate all of its instalments, which will remove the extras and set the values against the remaining instalments to be correct again.
📌 Note: This process may not recalculate the remaining instalments correctly if payments have been already taken, as this can mismatch against the remaining fees that need to be paid. Any On-Off discounts that had previously been applied would need to be applied again after following this process.
