If you are having issues with your letter or envelope salutations being incorrect, there are a few things to check.
How were the contacts created?
The first thing to check is how the contacts were created. This will determine what needs to be checked afterwards.
You will need to check if the contact was made through the web or any other method, for example manually.
Contact created through the web
If the contact was made through the web, the salutations are made using two library definitions:
WebEnvelopeSalutation: Made using Title, The first letter of the First Name and the Keyname.
WebLetterSalutation: Judged on the length of the First Name, this will either be the First Name or Friend.
Contact made through other method
If the contact was made through almost any other method, it should use the Title lookup to judge what the salutations will be.
In the Title lookup there will be a list of titles and next to each will be two pieces of code used to put the salutations together. When the contacts are created the salutations are created according to the corresponding code.
Using the above information you will be able to see what the expected salutations are.
If you are having difficulty checking this over, need any help to see what the salutations should be or if the salutations definitely don't match what should have been created, then please reach out to us via the Digital Assistant and provide us with as many details as possible so we can investigate and assist.
If the salutations have come out as expected according to the above checks then you might need to check internally whether this is correct. Review what the salutations should be and whether anything needs to be changed.
